World Toilet Day: What a Toilet Gives You

2.5 billion people around the world do not have access to toilets. That means that there are more people in the world, right now, that have access to a cellphone than a proper sanitation system.

No toilet means more than just discomfort and inconvenience. When you lack a toilet you also lack the following:

Respect: Girls without access to toilet systems are commonly victims of harassment and rape since they have to practice open defecation.

Health: People lack access to safe, uninfected drinking water because defecation is not kept separately.

Education: In many countries, when girls begin to menstruate, they often stop going to school because they will not have access to a bathroom.
